Current Spanish hunting regulations require that the enclosure must:
- Allow access for people and vehicles on public roads.
- Allow passage of watercourses and public water areas.
- Not be an obstacle to protected fauna and flora in the area.
- Do not include sharp objects.
- To be installed with poles that respect the maximum height and avoid shiny materials.
However, the technical specifications and measurements of the fencing are stipulated by each autonomous community, which usually publishes a decree setting out the details for the installation, modification, and replacement of hunting fences in the area.
These can be classified into: management fences and protection fences. Hunting fences are installed to protect the population of specific hunting species on a piece of land for further hunting exploitation. However, protective hunting fences aim to protect livestock, crops, vegetation cover or property in the area from external threats.
When selecting the type of fencing required, it is important to understand the numerical distribution that accompanies each product. Next to the brand name, the height of the roll of netting (ex. 100/10/15) appears first, followed by the specific number of horizontal wires that make up the roll (ex. 100/10/15). Finally, the distance between the vertical wires is indicated (ex. 100/10/15), always in centimetres, as well as the height of the fencing.
